Arx Avari, an In-house project that raise the bar of Passion Republic, was finally done and made its way to every corner of the world. In this project, our challenge was to create a realistic game trailer that pushes the boundaries of what we are capable of achieving.

Initially, the project Arx Avari was started with the creation of ghotic fantasy architecture and interior. Along the designing progress, more and more inputs and ideas were pumped in by our teammates, which we think would be cool to work on. And finaly, the idea was realised in this cinematic. Here, you can see the evolution of the interior and architecture design, also concept that added into the project.

The statue design was started as more fantasy approach, from here we have also researched to support the design of the statues. A lot of the elements were influenced by the ghotic and dark age. Hundreds of sketches were produced during this stage.

In this animated sequence, there are two main characters and a monster. The human and the four-handed creature were set to be the same species evolved into two: human race went into creating civilization and hierachy in their society; the other lived in primitive way, their feature and figure were evolved due to the environment they lived in. The two species became rival during the dark age of mankind, the good ones had been guarding and protecting the human by sealing the dark soul into the statues.

The design process on paladin was quite straight foward as it is something closer to us, and we can refer to many resources. However, designing and creating the four-handed shaman is a challenge, we need it to be primitive looking and a contrast from regular humans. Some of the earlier concepts for this creature were too civilized and human like, so in the end we settled with a combination of exoskeleton and flesh.
